Terrence Gavan is a CPA and financial planner. He also writes books, primarily about Newport, Rhode Island.

His best seller“The Barons of Newport” has sold over 30,000 copies and is a vividly descriptive guide to the Gilded Age and the outrageous lifestyles of the rich and famous families who made Newport the Mecca of Gilded Age extravagance.

His other books include “Exploring Newport,” “The Complete Guide to Newport,” “A Taste of Providence,” and “A Taste of Boston.”

Mr. Gavan has more than forty years of financial experience in corporate accounting, tax planning and financial planning. He was an Associate Professor of Accounting at Salve Regina University where he taught for fifteen years.
